The City of Canning named its top citizens for the year at its Australia Day Family Fun Day. Its community citizen of the year awards recognise four individuals and groups for their dedication, leadership and service to the community. The active community citizen of the year award went to the Friends of Shelley Rossmoyne Foreshore, Darren Hamley was named community citizen of the year, young community citizen of the year went to Sheandra Perera, and Stephen Johnston was named senior community citizen of the year. “On behalf of the City of Canning, I sincerely thank each of this year’s award recipients for the time, care and commitment they give to our community,” he said. “These award recipients represent the heart of our community,” he said.
