Commissioners discuss future of former Sterling Sugar Mill site
['Callie Jones']
Sterling Journal-Advocate
The Logan County Commissioners voiced support for doing something on a smaller scale at the former Sterling Sugar Mill site but don’t want to take on a full redevelopment.
The 210 acres of land, which is located on Highway 6 in unincorporated Logan County and zoned industrial, has been owned by Stratus since 2022.
During a community meeting and in online comments there was strong support for the LCEDC taking a lead role in acquiring and improving the site.
Then would come the big work, which would be to develop the site into an industrial park.
She also asked the commissioners to consider making some funding available to ECCLPS as a line item in the county’s budget.
