FAT Brands has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. According to the filing, FAT Brands “sought strategic alternatives” but decided to go the bankruptcy route due to the mounting “liabilities and liquidity situation” the company faced. The Chapter 11 filing comes just two months after investors declared $1.26 billion in FAT Brands debt immediately due, and the company admitted that bankruptcy was a possibility. The company has indicated that daily operations of its brands will proceed as usual during the reorganization process. McDonald’s, for its part, told Restaurant Business that it has a responsibility to ensure the strength and integrity of the brand.
