By Abubakar YunusaThe Northwest Democracy Monitoring Group has accused a former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, of attempting to exploit insecurity in the region for political gain. He accused Malami of lacking a track record of development in the Northwest, aside from constructing a single prison, while critical projects like the Abuja–Kano Expressway were neglected during his tenure under former President Muhammadu Buhari. “The petition is not only baseless but represents a reckless attempt to exploit insecurity for personal ambition,” Sani said. The NDMG maintained that the safety of communities should never be turned into a political pawn, insisting that leaders must prioritise accountability, transparency, and genuine efforts to address insecurity. It vowed to continue monitoring the political landscape in the Northwest to ensure that opportunistic politicians are held accountable.
