Sept. 23 (UPI) -- The White House-appointed director of the country's 250th birthday celebration was fired Tuesday after allegedly making unapproved social media posts and financial decisions. Ariel Abergel, 25, was the executive director of the bipartisan Semiquincentennial Commission to celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence next year. But Abergel told the Journal that the foundation is spreading "malicious lies" to "distract from the truth." Abergel said he had first asked America250 to make a statement about Kirk before doing it himself. Abergel told the Journal he was first suspended over the post, then was asked to resign and then was fired.
