Detectives in Makindu, Makueni County arrested two men suspected of being behind a string of highway motor vehicle thefts. The suspects are accused of orchestrating robberies targeting vehicles headed to Uganda as well as unregistered cars bearing Kenya Dealers (KD) plates. Following their arrest along the Mombasa-Nairobi highway, detectives recovered several items, including a set of registration plates (KDR 885Z), three ID cards belonging to different people, five mobile phones, a wheel spanner, and other assorted items. Such attacks have been on the rise on the highway which prompted a police operation. The government has been taking measures to address the trend including registering the cars from the points of origin.
