Councillor Niall Innes, Conservative member for Hartburn, proposed the motion to ask the council's cabinet to fly the Union Flag all year on council offices, as government buildings and councils were encouraged to do in government guidance. Seconding the motion, Conservative group leader Cllr Tony Riordan, for Norton North, said: "This is a tremendous and patriotic motion put before the council.
