On Saturday, Sept. 20, the Butte Environmental Council sponsored its 38th Annual Bidwell Park and Creeks Clean Up. Well over 500 (maybe as many as 700) people helped with the cleanup—families, individuals, clubs and organizations from children to seniors (including lots of teens!). I was, however, disappointed that the Enterprise Record did not report on the BEC Cleanup. This year, The Butte Environmental Council (becnet.org) is celebrating 50 years of its mission “to protect and defend the land, air, and water of Butte County” with a big Gala at Lakeside Pavilion.
