ContributedMajor General John C. Raaen, Jr., United States Army (Retired), and the last surviving U.S. Army Ranger who participated in the initial assault on Omaha Beach on D-Day, received the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal on September 17 during a historic ceremony at The Mayflower at Winter Park. The Congressional Gold Medal can be given to individuals, institutions, or events and has been awarded fewer than 200 times in the history of the United States. “All of us at The Mayflower extend our sincerest congratulations to Gen.
