Four governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are considering defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general election. The governors are Peter Mbah of Enugu, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba. Party sources indicate that the move is linked to ongoing internal crises within the PDP and the governors’ desire to secure their political survival under the ruling party. The four governors were recently sighted in discreet meetings with key APC stakeholders in Abuja, fuelling speculation of imminent defection. The APC, on its part, is said to be intensifying efforts to woo strategic figures from the opposition to consolidate its grip on power ahead of 2027.
