Peabody - Mr. Jean Emile Desrochers, 95 of Peabody and the loving husband of the late Rachel (Rocafort) Desrochers, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2025 at Beverly Hospital. Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Jean was the son of the late Emile and Florence (Menard) Desrochers. Jean was raised and educated in Salem, attending Salem Public Schools and was a member of Salem High's graduating class in 1948. Upon his high school graduation, Jean enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Sergeant and diligently worked as jet engine mechanic during the war. Jean was a proud and faithful veteran, and his devotion to his country was recognized by experiencing a once in a lifetime trip to Washington D.C. on the honor flight in his later years. Through the trade and skills Jean obtained in the military, upon his honorable discharge, he returned home and worked for many years as a mechanic at Ford Motor Company in Somerville. His artistic skills and attention to detail led him to a professional career as a tanner, working for various tanneries but most recently until the time of his retirement, he worked at New England Sportswear. His creativity extended in every avenue, he was an extremely talented carpenter and finisher handling final details in the family home in West Peabody, to building exquisite model schooners or creating ornaments and gifts for each and every member of his family, Jean's woodworking was a true craft and treasure. A dedicated family man, Jean delighted in the joys of life, nurturing and doting on his beloved wife and children. Later in life, he found immense happiness in his role as a grandfather and great-grandfather, showering his family with love and wisdom that will forever echo in their hearts. Jean was a true New Englander at heart, passionately supporting the region's many sports teams, embodying the spirit of loyalty and camaraderie. He was a longtime member of the American Legion in Middleton, where he forged lasting friendships and shared countless memories. His love for classical music brought beauty to his world, providing a soundtrack to both quiet moments and celebrations alike. A great man, living a simply good life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Jean is survived by his children, Amy Martin and her husband, Kevin of Dracut, Carolyn Malski and her spouse, John of Windham, NH and Charles J, Desrochers and his wife, Giane of Medford; his grandchildren, Jennifer Wifholm and her husband, Scott of Henniker, NH, Melissa Todd and her husband, Jeffrey of Danville, NH, Sarah Schneider and her husband, Zachary of Litchfield, NH and Charles Desrochers of Methuen; his great-grandchildren, Sean and Ethan Wifholm, Conor Todd, Charles Desrochers and Wesley and Zoey Schneider and a special close niece, Nina Gagnon of Beverly. In addition to his parents, and beloved wife Rachel, Jean was predeceased by his sisters, Jacqueline Silva and Constance Desrochers. All services for Jean will be privately held.
