Beverly - Stella Helen Maihos, a beloved member of the Beverly community, passed away peacefully on September 17th at Beverly Hospital. She was predeceased by her devoted companion of 40 years, John Femino, whom she cherished deeply.
Born in Peabody, Stella was the daughter of the late Adam and Mary (Enos) Maihos. She grew up in Peabody, where she attended high school and later pursued her passion for beauty. Stella's entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish her own hair salon, Styles by Stella Salon, in Salem. It was here that she spent many joyful years cultivating relationships with her cherished clients.
In 1997, she retired from her salon to embark on a new career at the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Danvers, where she dedicated another ten years of her life until her retirement at the age of 82. Stella was known for her love of golf and her creativity in crafts.
She converted from Greek Orthodox to Catholicism, becoming a devout member of her faith. She actively participated in the community at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly.
She is survived by her much-loved family members, her dear and very special friend Marsha Glazer, and many nieces and nephews. Stella was predeceased by her brothers, James and William Maihos, and her sister, Sophie (Maihos) Marshall. Stella's legacy of love and kindness will continue to be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Her funeral service will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, on Wednesday, September 24th, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours prior to the service are from 10 to 11 a.m.
