With partly cloudy skies during the morning and temperatures reaching 32 degrees, the port of Progreso saw a good influx of visitors this Sunday, September 21, who took advantage of the day to enjoy the beach, the sea breeze, and the local cuisine. According to estimates from service providers, at least 3,000 visitors arrived at the port throughout the day. Restaurants and palapas had a steady stream of customers, while vendors offered marquesitas, ceviches, and cold coconuts to visitors strolling along the sand of Progreso. “There has been good activity; hopefully, it will continue this way over the coming weekends,” said a restaurateur on the boardwalk. Sunday’s activity in Progreso was a family-friendly event, with groups staying out into the afternoon, enjoying the sea breeze under a sky that gradually clouded over.
