— Burcon NutraScience Corp. has made its first commercial sale of Puratein C, a canola protein isolate.
Burcon’s proprietary technology upcycles byproducts from solvent-free canola oilseed processing to extract the isolate, which has “exceptional nutritional, functional and flavorful properties,” according to the company.
It has high solubility, a light cream color and a mild flavor profile, according to Vancouver-based Burcon NutraScience.
Burcon NutraScience also offers Peazazz, a pea protein isolate, and recently began commercially producing FavaPro, a fava bean protein isolate.
“The first sales of Puratein canola protein mark another step in scaling Burcon’s innovation into the market,” said Kip Underwood, chief executive officer of Burcon.
