Starting Monday (September 8), The East River Park running track will close for reconstruction, as well as the entire northern section of the park above East Houston Street. Meanwhile, the new pedestrian bridge connecting Corlears Hook Park to East River Park opened on Friday, along with the new amphitheater, seating areas and additional tennis courts. East River Park has been raised 8-10 feet to help protect vulnerable Lower East Side buildings from future storms. Sections of the southern end of the park opened on Memorial Day weekend. Two ballfields and the new Delancey Street bridge opened in the fall of 2024.
