A new study in the demonstrates the biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles using banana peel extract as a reducing agent, subsequently applied to low-density polyethylene (LDPE) film. Characterized via scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, these biogenic silver nanoparticles were then coated onto LDPE films through a dip-coating process. Reading tip: Silicon and Nanotechnology for CoatingsDive into the world of advanced coatings with “Silicon and Nanotechnology for Coatings”. The coated films exhibited significant antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and showed antioxidant properties in free radical scavenging tests. These silver nanoparticle coatings hold promise for sustainable packaging applications with enhanced protective functionalities.
