With the aim of setting new standards in the curing of powder coatings, Akzo Nobel and IPG Photonics will work closely together in the future. At the heart of the collaboration is the adaptation of Akzo Nobel’s Interpon powder coating formulations to IPG’s laser curing solutions. The technology enables targeted heating of the coating by laser radiation, eliminating the need for conventional curing ovens. According to the companies, the use of laser curing can reduce investment and operational costs by more than 50 %. Both partners regard the cooperation as a strategic move to set new standards for the future of powder coating.
