Bostik expands polyester production capacity in the US
[]
European Coatings
Bostik, the adhesive solutions division of French chemicals group Arkema, is investing EUR 25 million in its manufacturing plant in Middleton, Massachusetts.
The investment aims to increase both capacity and reliability for the production of high-molecular-weight polyester resins – a core element of Bostik’s heat-activated, specialty hot melt technology platform.
As Bostik’s largest production site in the United States, the Middleton facility manufactures a wide range of resins and adhesives, with a strong emphasis on worker safety.
Of the total investment, more than EUR 11 million were awarded to local vendors for installation, civil works and fabrication.
According to Chris Glover, Senior Vice President of North America Group Manufacturing, Bostik’s high-molecular-weight polyesters can be recyclable or compostable, meet regulatory requirements such as food contact compliance, and are free from BPA and halogens.
