More than EUR 1.5 million were invested in comprehensive upgrades, including thermal building renovation, smart control systems for heated acid and alkali tanks, and a complete conversion to a heating system based on groundwater heat pumps and low-temperature radiators. A 220 kWp photovoltaic system now supplies all the required electricity for the heat pumps, site operations, and EV charging points, generating about 220,000 kWh per year. These efforts will save approximately 120 metric tons of CO₂ annually – the equivalent energy consumption of 50 households. The project was partially funded by the Brenntag Carbon Fund and aligns with the group’s long-term sustainability ambitions, which include achieving full climate neutrality by 2045.
