Self-healing bio-based polybenzoxazine vitrimers for anticorrosion coatings

A Chinese research team has developed bio-based polybenzoxazine vitrimers with self-healing and shape memory properties.
The coatings are based on the dynamic exchange of disulphide bonds, introduced via the curing agent bis(4-aminophenyl) disulphide (APDS) into a cardanol/furfurylamine-derived polybenzoxazine network.
Stress relaxation experiments revealed dynamic exchange activation energies ranging from 53.9 to 115.7 kJ/mol.
