The three partners aim to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of powder coatings through new raw materials and improved data accuracy. BASF, Akzo Nobel and Arkema have announced a collaboration to lower the carbon footprint of superdurable powder coatings used in architectural applications. BASF supplies bio-attributed neopentyl glycol (NPG) with a PCF of zero, which Arkema uses to produce polyester resins for powder coatings. Bio-attributed materials enable emission reductionArkema applies the NPG to manufacture low- and standard-temperature cure resins for Akzo Nobel’s superdurable Interpon D coatings. In Europe, the Interpon D colour collections and Low-E architectural powder coatings are now produced using bio-attributed materials.
