The accused also broke Durga Devi’s hand. However, police say that unidentified persons moved the hundi (donation box) aside, causing the hand of the Goddess Durga idol to fall. Residents and staff of the Exhibition Society make the idol of the Goddess every year as part of the Devi Sharan Navratri celebrations. The accused removed the barricading and threw away the puja material.
