By Mohamed AttiaCivil Aviation Minister Sameh Hafny is leading a high-level Egyptian delegation to the 42nd session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) General Assembly, which opened Monday in Montreal, Canada. The delegation includes Amr El-Sharqawy, head of the Civil Aviation Authority, Reem El-Arabi, Egypt’s alternate representative to the ICAO Council, and several senior officials. He said the occasion was an opportunity to renew joint commitments to the regulatory principles underpinning ICAO, praising the EU as a strategic partner in advancing global civil aviation. The ICAO General Assembly, held every three years, is the organization’s highest decision-making body. It sets civil aviation policies, adopts safety and security standards, elects ICAO Council members, and approves budgets and work programs.
