So you can imagine how surprised I was to discover the Met Office staff were given record bonuses of £8.1million last year. Apparently, this was made possible because Met Office bosses scrapped the direct link between forecast accuracy and bonuses. It seems Met Office staff are far better at forecasting their bumper pay packets than they are the weather.
