New York’s top environmental agency filed a violation charge against the state authority running Whiteface Mountain ski center, a state official said Wednesday. DEC officials say they continue to review a draft work plan completed Aug. 20 with a goal of finding a resolution cooperatively with the Olympic authority. To finish the track needed for the October bike races on Whiteface Mountain, ORDA turned to Backslope Trail Building LLC whose owner is from Elizabethtown. The Olympic authority contract, he said, was not a good fit for both sides. Top leaders of the authority acknowledged on Tuesday that work on the project did happen without an approved work plan.
