Washington, D.C. Medical Marijuana Sales Reach $8.2 Million in August, Up 82% From Last Year, Patient Count Rises to Over 73,000

Washington, D.C.’s medical marijuana program reported $8,245,291 in total sales for August 2025, a sharp 82% increase over the $4,520,332 recorded in August 2024.
The report shows over 73,000 unique patients registered in August, up from 65,812 in July.
D.C. residents made up the majority, with 19,052 unique patients, while another 2,105 non-resident reciprocity patients and 10,369 self-certified temporary patients were also active.
In terms of products, dried flower remained the backbone of sales, with 603 pounds sold for nearly $3 million.
According to the report, patients from neighboring states continued to make up a notable portion of out-of-state activity, with Maryland leading at 852 unique patients, followed by Virginia at 835 and Florida at 162.
