When a child is subjected to a traumatic experience such as being kidnapped at gunpoint it leaves deep psychological scars. MMA urges News24 and all media outlets to exercise caution and adhere to legal and ethical frameworks when reporting on children involved in incidents of crime or abuse. It is imperative that media reports minimise harm to children and prioritise their best interests, as mandated by Section 28.2 of the Bill of Rights. We strongly advise News24 to reassess how they approach reporting on children, especially in sensitive criminal matters.
