Three new studies have launched in Manchester to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccines for severe acute respiratory infections. The trials are the first to be delivered by the Greater Manchester Commercial Research Delivery Centre (GM CRDC), supported by the National Institute for Health and Care Research. The studies aim to recruit 300 patients hospitalised with severe acute respiratory infections during the 2024–2025 winter season. They will assess how COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccines perform outside clinical trials and across diverse populations. Hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, it builds on the region’s research expertise to position Manchester as a hub for pioneering trials.
