There are 195 countries in the world, and while Todd Zimmerman realizes he likely won’t be able to see all of them, he does have a goal in mind. During those trips he’s learned so much about the world and about people, he said. Of the 53 countries he’s been to, Zimmerman said Austria is his favorite, largely because it contains Vienna, his favorite city. Steves’ travel philosophy encourages cultural immersion, and he believes travel is essential for nourishing the soul and understanding the world, as does Zimmerman. Traveling has helped Zimmerman to be a better teacher of history, he said.
