Many whitetails get spooked by hunters who inadvertently alert deer of danger even before arriving at a hunting location. Every entrance to the woodlot imprints human intrusion on that area, which goes for checking trail cameras, scouting, and hanging stands. Carefully consider how you are going to get to and from your hunting location without bumping deer. Try not to cross upwind from a bedding location, avoid bushwhacking through lots of brush and don’t spit or touch things unnecessarily. Once in the stand, be present and avoid the temptation of scrolling on a smartphone or other distractions.
