Giles is historian for Lexington Freedom Train, the organization that raised money to erect the statue. The group formed a nonprofit organization, Lexington Freedom Train (lexfreedomtrain.org), and raised $450,000 for the statue, including the largest-ever grant of $245,000 from the city’s Public Art Commission.
