Mohawk College has reported a projected $50-million deficit for the 2025-26 year, linked to declining international student enrolment and reduced revenue. Workers say these conditions have added pressure to already strained support services. The strike involves more than 10,000 full-time support staff across 24 colleges in Ontario. Faculty, part-time support staff, food services and custodial services are not on strike. Mohawk College confirmed that picketing is taking place at its Fennell and Stoney Creek campuses as well as the IAHS site, which houses joint Mohawk–McMaster health sciences programs.
